Where are they now?
by SUE GIBSON Ever wonder if the OREC college scholarship really makes a difference? We know, first hand, it does! Meet Dale Scheiderer. In 1972, he was the URE recipient of the OREC high school scholarship and was recently elected to serve District 3 on the URE Board of Trustees. A graduate of Marysville high school and The Ohio State University, he received a B.S. in agricultural education. Since graduation he has served on many boards and committees. Dale even served as the chairman on the URE 2006 Nominating Committee. Dale has had an interest in cooperatives since college and he attended the American Institute of Cooperation as a youth delegate. These experiences helped prepare him for service on the Board of a successful farm cooperative, which, in turn, has increased his knowledge of how a co-op like URE operates. Winning this scholarship sparked a life-long interest in member owned co-ops and how they operate. Dale's advice for current high school seniors, "Fill out an application, you never know what this scholarship will prepare you for."
