Washington, D.C. Youth Tour 2021 - CANCELLED due to Covid-19
Sophomores and Juniors
are eligible to attend the Youth Tour to Washington D.C. held annually in June. This national event brings students together from all over Ohio to travel together to meet their peers in D.C. Every student who goes comes back raving about the experience. This is not your average school field trip! Tour participant must be the son, daughter or legal ward of an Ohio Rural electric distribution cooperative member or renter living on URE lines at the time of the tour. Learn how to enter and WIN.
The Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives Youth Tour is an annual leadership program sponsored by URE. It’s a week long, all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., that gives exceptional high school students the opportunity to meet with their congressional leaders at the U.S. Capitol, make new friends from across the state and country, and see many of the famous Washington sights.

High School Seniors from URE member households are eligible to compete in this one-year scholarship contest.
URE TWO YEAR PATH - CAREER TECHNICAL/COMMUNITY COLLEGE Scholarship Competition - focuses on personal essay/career plans but also considers contributions made to community and school activities.
In the URE TWO YEAR PATH CAREER TECHNICAL/COMMUNITY COLLEGE Scholarship competition, URE will select TWO students for these scholarships.
Area schools have increased programming and curriculums focusing on career readiness, STEM, and other academies in high demand employment fields.
URE wants to make sure our scholarship programs keep pace with the pathways today’s students are exploring.
In 2021, URE is excited to announce new scholarship opportunities for high school seniors URE TWO YEAR PATH planning on continuing their education at either a community college or technical school.
URE FOUR YEAR PATH - COLLEGE Scholarship Competition - focuses on academic achievement but also considers contributions made to community and school activities.
In the URE FOUR YEAR PATH COLLEGE scholarship competition, URE will select THREE students for these scholarships.
The first place student will be URE's representative to the OEC (Ohio's Rural Electric Cooperatives) statewide scholarship competition. This competition recognizes students for their classroom achievements along with their contributions to the community and their ability to speak in front of a panel of judges.
Ohio's Rural Electric Cooperative (OREC) Scholarships
In addition - the first place recipient will have the opportunity to compete for the OREC scholarships.
At the state level, our TOP nominee will compete against nominees of other Ohio Electric Cooperatives for additional scholarship money.
Application
Download the application - do a "save-as" with your name as the file name. Then type in the saved document. Print all pages so both applicant and parent/guardian can sign. Submit the application to your guidance counselor for their input on page 3. In order to be considered for the scholarship, the application must be returned to the URE office by FEB. 8, 2021.
